چکیده

This paper evaluates the accuracy of several RSSI-based localization techniques on a live jobsite and compares them to results obtained in an operating building. RSSI-based localization algorithms were tested due to their relative low cost and potential for accuracy. Four different localization algorithms (MinMax, Maximum Likelihood, Ring Overlapping Circle RSSI and k-Nearest Neighbor) were evaluated at both locations. The results indicate that the tested localization algorithms performed less well on the construction jobsite than they did in the operating building. The simple MinMax algorithm has better performance than other algorithms, with average errors as low as 1.2 m with a beacon density of 0.186/m. The Ring Overlapping Circle RSSI algorithm was also shown to have good results and avoids implementation difficulties of other algorithms. k-Nearest Neighbor algorithms, previously explored by other construction researchers, have good accuracy in some test cases but may be particularly sensitive to beacon

Fingerprint Location Database Construction for Enhancing Accuracy of WiFi based Indoor Localization

We proposed Wireless LAN (WLAN) localization method that enhances database construction based on weighting factor and analyses the characteristic of the WLAN received signals. The weighting factor plays a key role as it determines the importance of Received Signal Strength Indication (RSSI) value from number of received signals (frequency). The fingerprint method is the most widely used method ...

RSSI-based Indoor Mobile Localization in Wireless Sensor Network

Abstract Location techniques play an important part in wireless sensor network. The received signal strength indicator (RSSI) based localization is a promising technique since it requires relatively low configuration and energy. The received signal strength is mainly influenced by propagation environment in wireless sensor network. So we proposed an indoor mobile location algorithm (IMLA). We f...

Automatic virtual calibration of range-based indoor localization systems

The localization methods based on received signal strength indicator (RSSI) link the RSSI values to the position of the mobile to be located. In the RSSI localization techniques based on propagation models, the accuracy depends on the tuning of the propagation models parameters. In indoor wireless networks, the propagation conditions are hardly predictable due to the dynamic nature of the RSSI,...
